Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that helps individuals achieve positive changes in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Unlike the stage hypnosis often portrayed in entertainment, clinical hypnotherapy is a legitimate form of treatment conducted by trained professionals, It involves guiding a person into a deeply relaxed and focused state, where the subconscious mind becomes more open to suggestion and insight.

In this relaxed state, individuals can explore thoughts, memories, (often forgotten) and emotions that may be difficult to access during normal waking consciousness. Hypnotherapy is commonly used to address issues like anxiety, phobias, chronic pain, smoking cessation, weight loss, insomnia, and stress. It can also help individuals improve performance, increase confidence, and manage habits or behavioural patterns that are hard to change through willpower alone.

How can Hypnotherapy Help me?

A typical hypnotherapy session involves an induction phase to guide the client into a hypnotic state, followed by therapeutic suggestions or guided imagery tailored to the client’s goals, written for the individual.  Some therapists use regression techniques to explore the origin of specific problems. Hypnotherapy can be used as a standalone treatment or as part of an integrated approach alongside methods like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and person-centred therapy.

Though results vary depending on individual suggestibility and the issue being treated, research supports the effectiveness of hypnotherapy for many conditions, particularly stress and confidence related.   When practiced by a qualified professional, hypnotherapy is a safe, non-invasive tool that can empower individuals to make lasting, meaningful change.  And as an added extra it is a deep state of relaxation.
